Signs of nausea
Queasiness or feeling the need to throw up is often experienced before, during, or after vomiting. It is commonly caused by medications, stomach/bowel problems, or constipation.
These are common signs of nausea:
- Pain or discomfort in the stomach
- Overproduction of saliva
- Retching or dry heaving
- Loss of appetite
- Heightened sensitivity to smells
- Bloating, or a feeling of fullness in the stomach
Pay special attention to these symptoms when nausea gets worse:
- Persistent vomiting and inability to keep fluids down
- Blood in vomit
- Constipation
- Fever (temperature over 38℃/100.4℉)
- Confusion, altered mental state or blurred vision
- Increased heart rate and/or palpitations
- Unbearable stomach pain
