Signs of vomiting
Throwing up, sometimes with little warning, making it hard to keep food or liquids down.
These are common issues associated with vomiting:
- Constant nausea
- Gagging, retching or dry heaving
- Loss of appetite or a decreased desire to eat
- Feeling thirsty and dehydrated
- Pain or discomfort in the stomach
- Increased sensitivity to smells
Pay special attention to these symptoms when the vomiting gets out of control:
- Spots of blood in vomit - inform the medical team as soon as possible
- Lots of blood in vomit - contact emergency services immediately
- Constipation or bloody stool - inform the medical team as soon as possible
- Persistent or severe vomiting
- New shortness of breath
- Fever (temperature over 38℃/100.4℉)
- Changed mental state, confusion, or blurred vision
- Increased heart rate or palpitations
- Unbearable abdominal pain
- Difficulty swallowing
